Street Cartel ent. Street Cartel is a hip hop group from Philadelphia. Members Phyllie, MidNite, H.T. and Bad News all began as solo artist then when they met each other, they saw the common intrest so they came together and formed a group. Street Cartel came to be back in 2002, Bad News and MidNite were from Southwest Philadelphia and Phyllie an H.T. were from Germantown. Bad News and MidNite met back in the 7th grade and it wasn't until high school when they started to really get into rapping. They continued to write raps and Midnite made beats with his 5 track yamaha keyboard but never really wrote a song until in 2001, one of MidNite's friends told him about a guy who also was a rapper. That person was Phyllie who not only was a rapper but he also made beats. Midnite became friends with Phyllie and from there, they began making music together. Frequently MidNite would go over Phyllie's house having cyphers and listening to the beats they made. While MidNite at the time only had a keyboard, which he hooked up to a karaoke machine to put on cassette tape's, Phyllie had a video game on PS2 called "Music Generator 2". After hearing how good Phyllie's beats sounded, MidNite went out and bought a copy of the game. The quality of their music got better so Phyllie and MidNite decide to persue a music career seriously. That's when MidNite decide to introduce Phyllie to Bad News. After being impressed by each others raps they decided to form a group but at the time they did not have a name. Phyllie started off rapping in Germantown with a friend and they also made songs. Phyllie's friend, Jamal, had a cousin who also was a rapper. His name was H.T. and they all used to get together and rap at Jamal's house. At the time it was only for fun until Phylle's friend introduced him to MidNite. After seeing how good MidNite was and MidNite introducing Phyllie to Bad News, they were ready to go ahead with forming the group. They decided to get a few more people to complete the group but before long they saw that it wasn't working out and decided to go with the original four. At first, finding a place to record their music was a little difficult. They continued to work on songs and one day H.T. tells the group that he found a studio they can go to. When they got there they recorded the track "Easy". They liked the track but wanted better quality mix down so they looked for another studio to go to. They soon flyer on a phone post about a studio in South Philadelphia. The guy was only charging $25 dollars a track and that was fair. Street Cartel completed their EP at this studio and were looking for support to help get it out to the public. H.T.'s cousin knew a guy who was forming an entertainment group and suggested they talk to him about some help. Street Cartel went down to talk to the CEO of this entertainment group which was called, Ready for War. At the time RFW only had one other act they were working with. This is where they met another rap group whom they still work with, Cannon Connect. SC decided to work with RFW and from there started planning. SC would get together to work on songs and once a week they would hold a meeting with RFW. When they were ready to records their tracks, RFW had a studio for them to go to. They were able to record three tracks but then soon had a minor fallout with RFW, SC didn't feel like the time they spent with them equaled out to the amount of progress they made. SC was soon, again, out doing it on their own. In 2005 they got back in contact with they guy would owned the studio in South Philadelphia. He had since moved to West Philadelphia and SC was ready to work on a mixtape. After completing the mixtape, SC fell back to get their personal lives situated. They got back to making music in 2010 and are now ready to start working on putting out an album. MidNite has been putting out instrumental mixtapes since 2009 and SC is working on solo projects plus a Street Cartel LP. The first solo project to be released is by Phyllie and it is set to be realeased in 2011.
